PRP
What is PRP?
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a procedure where platelet-rich plasma obtained from the patient’s own blood is injected into the skin, hair, or tissue to promote regeneration. This plasma, separated from the blood using a special method, contains high amounts of growth factors, accelerating cell renewal and supporting repair and revitalization in tissues.
Since the patient’s own blood is used, there is no risk of allergy, and it initiates a completely natural regeneration process. PRP is effective for skin rejuvenation, hair loss, scar treatments, pigmentation, and tissue damage.
When is PRP Preferred?
PRP treatment can be safely applied for many aesthetic and dermatological concerns, including:
- Fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of skin elasticity
- Sun damage and skin pigmentation
- Acne and scar marks
- Signs of aging in the neck and décolleté area
- Hair loss and thinning hair
- Dull, pale, or dry skin
- Supporting tissue repair and healing
PRP provides stronger results when combined with hair mesotherapy, especially for individuals experiencing hair loss.
PRP Application for Skin Rejuvenation
PRP reactivates lost elastin and collagen in the skin, providing tightening, radiance, and rejuvenation. It is highly effective in reducing wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation, and stretch marks. When combined with procedures such as laser, chemical peeling, or radiofrequency, faster and longer-lasting results are achieved.
PRP for Hair Loss
In areas with significant hair loss, PRP supports hair follicle renewal, reducing shedding and promoting new hair growth. Growth factors in platelets stimulate follicles, increase blood flow, and thicken hair strands.
For individuals with genetic hair loss, PRP combined with hair mesotherapy produces more intense and long-lasting results.
Precautions Before PRP Treatment
- Blood-thinning medications should be stopped 2–3 days prior.
- Herbal teas, vitamin E, and aspirin should not be used.
- Alcohol consumption is not recommended for 24 hours following the procedure.
PRP is not a surgical procedure; preparation steps are simple.
How is PRP Performed?
The procedure begins with drawing a specific amount of blood from the patient. The blood is placed in special tubes and centrifuged to separate platelet-rich plasma. The obtained PRP is then injected into the target area using fine needles.
The entire procedure takes approximately 20–30 minutes, and the patient can immediately return to daily life.
Post-PRP Care
- Do not wash the treated area for the first 6 hours.
- Do not apply makeup for 24 hours.
- Avoid blood-thinning medications for a few days.
- Avoid pools, the sea, and saunas for the period recommended by the doctor.
- If swelling occurs, ice application can be used.
Effects of PRP Treatment
- Tightening and radiance of the skin
- Reduction in fine lines
- Lightening of deep scars and pigmentation
- Thickening and increased density of hair strands
- Acceleration of tissue healing
PRP results usually become noticeable after the 2nd or 3rd session.
When Do PRP Results Appear?
PRP is a regenerative treatment, so its effects appear gradually. Initial visible changes start after 2–3 sessions.
Tightening of the skin, evening of skin tone, reduction in fine lines, and a healthy glow are noticeably achieved. For hair applications, thickening of hair strands and reduced shedding become visible after the first month.
Who Should Not Receive PRP?
- Cancer patients with low platelet count
- Areas with infection or active inflammation
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women
- Individuals with blood clotting disorders
PRP Session Number and Duration
PRP is generally applied in 3–4 sessions at 2-week intervals. Since it is not a permanent procedure, it is recommended to repeat it once a year.
Sessions last approximately 30 minutes, and no rest is required after the procedure.
Is PRP Harmful?
Since PRP is obtained entirely from the patient’s own blood, there is no risk of allergic reaction. It contains no foreign substances, making it a safe treatment method. Mild bruising and sensitivity may occur after the procedure, but these disappear quickly.
